I thought for now on since I don't put up that many journals, I'll let you guys know about some international competitions I come across. For those interested in looking out for future competitions on their own time, check out Graphic Competitions
which is a website that provides a list of international competitions in the categories of: Graphic Design, Photography, Illustration, Animation, Multiple Disciplines and Students Only. Here are one from each category on the current list along with a short description taken directly from the website or graphiccompetitions.com:
1. Graphic Design
"Greenpeace is calling designers, tinkerers, inventors, students of all fields from all over the world, to join forces and design a breakthrough design: a renewable energy powered and portable water pump that can provide a viable alternative to diesel-driven ones."

Prize: 1,000 Euros

Prize: Photographer of the Year: $25,000
Open Photographer of the Year: $5,000
Note: You have to have a membership with the worldphoto.org to enter the contest, but it's a free account.</u></u>
"The contest is open to everyone older than 16 years of age, both professionals and non professionals, whom are asked to create the art work for the theme "Be different"."
"Participants can choose any technique. The artwork must be original and be made exclusively for this competition. The file sent for the selection can be either in .jpg or .pdf."

5. Multiple Disciplines
"We are looking for designs from all over the world that examine the topic (Water) in an intense and creative manner – be it product-oriented or process-oriented. It may include inventing new services or suggesting innovative applications or user strategies but also designing products that address our treatment of water as a resource or examine the sensual qualities of water as a material."
Deadline: January 31, 2014
Prize: $13,000 (altogether)
6. Students Only
"Each year, the Space Foundation International Student Art Contest invites pre-kindergarten through 12th grade students from around the world to submit original artwork based on a space-oriented theme. The 2014 contest theme, My Spaceship Looks Like..., challenges students to design their own spaceship - and then interpret that idea into an original work of visual art."
Deadline: November 15, 2013
Prize: Undisclosed prize, ribbon, certificate, and "Winning artwork will be displayed and viewed by space professionals from around the world at the 30th Space Symposium, May 19-22, 2014, at The Broadmoor Hotel, Colorado Springs, Colo. and at other venues throughout the year."
